A few decades ago a question was famously asked “Why can’t we all just get along?” For many of us the answer to the question was obvious. We have trouble getting along because people are not perfect and we can be hard on one another.
The same principle applies to the questions people sometimes ask about why it is challenging for churches to be diverse in meaningful, healthy ways. The answer is “because God is not done with us yet, and doing the right thing is not easy.”
If you want to think more deeply about how we can try to do better, feel free to listen to this week’s devotion. It contains a list of seven things the church can try to do to find a higher path in Christ; and even though the list is not perfect, thinking about the challenges before us can help make us open to the Holy Spirit and one another.
